Concrete materials and gunite (a type of reinforced concrete) are the strongest, most stable swimming building materials. They include prices depending on geographical location, landscape type and complex design.
Construction
Concrete and the gunite are sprayed on a framework of steel bars and wire mesh then covered with plaster to give the pool a smooth, paintable surface.
Lining Materials
Vinyl lining is usually less expensive than gunite and offers a non-porous, smooth, no-slip surface. They are popular in the colder regions of the country because they can drain quickly and in winter.
Construction of
polymer or steel wall is bolted and fastened together on the concrete floor. The vinyl lining is spread on the floor and lining walls and connected to the top of the walls of a vinyl rib at the outer edge of the lining. Construction time is usually 1-3 weeks. Generally, vinyl liners must be replaced with their lifespan depending on the use of the pool and geographic location.
Fiberglass
Materials
Fiberglass tanks are preformed, and as a vinyl tank, there is a non-porous surface that does not stain easily. Fiberglass requires less chemicals than concrete tanks and does not have a liner.
Construction of
Fiberglass lakes is produced at a factory of your specifications. Once your yard has been excavated, the pool is delivered in one piece and installed. Construction time is 3 days to about two weeks.
Note: If you live in an earthquake-prone area, it is possible for fiberglass and concrete to crack under the earth’s moving pressure (can bend the legs without sustaining major damage. ). Talk to your builder about what materials will be best for your pool.
